Senior Buyer

Envision Technology, an innovative small business providing advanced electro-optical solutions and unmanned systems for defense applications, is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Senior Buyer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a small, fast growing company environment where collaboration, flexibility, and initiative are key. In this role, you are responsible for the procurement lifecycle —from evaluating quotes and negotiating pricing to maintaining supplier relationships —ensuring on-time delivery of raw materials, components, and services to meet production and program management needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to diversify and strengthen the supply base, ensuring alignment with quality, cost, and delivery goals to support company growth.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers to ensure cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Collaborate with program management to support gathering of request for quote (RFQ) data for cost analysis.
  • Manage part maintenance by adding new parts, updating revisions, cost, preferred suppliers, lead times, and other attributes to ensure accurate data for production planning and program management.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements in the purchasing process.
  • Track orders and confirm system lead times, delivery dates, and costs.
  • Ensure timely delivery of items; follow up on late orders with suppliers while updating internal stakeholders.
  • Support Accounts Payable as needed to reconcile any invoice discrepancies.
  • Participate in and lead special initiatives focused on improving company operations, including process optimization, system enhancements, and performance improvement efforts.
  • Proven ability to negotiate pricing, terms, and commercial agreements with suppliers.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP systems, with the ability to analyze and act on MRP signals including planned orders, reschedules, and shortage messages.
  • Serves as a senior resource within the purchasing team, answering day-to-day questions and sharing best practices to enhance overall team capability and performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with program managers, directors, engineering, and cross functional teams.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in a similar industry, preferably DoW manufacturing involving electrical, optical, and mechanical components.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive when priorities change all while managing time efficiently.
  • Aptitude to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Strong knowledge of purchasing principles and procedures within a manufacturing organization.
  • Efficient working in a system driven Material Requirements Planning (MRP) environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of INFOR Visual, a plus.
  • Experience working in the defense industry, a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
